Imagine spending £2,238.66 on toys for Christmas!? Well, we just did! Instead of ‘Secret Santa’ for 2021, we chose to support our local Children’s Wards instead. We are a proud to be a local community choir and we love giving back. Once we raised the cash in December, we headed over to Amazon and ordered as many toys as we could from the wish-lists (created by the nurses).
Sing Now Choir members donated to the collection as well as audience members who came to watch us at various performances over the Christmas period. Wow, everybody was so generous in their donations! Thank you.
Basingstoke
Adding together the donations from our Asda gig on Sunday 28th November 2021 (£110), our Winter Showback on Wednesday 8th December 2021 (£307) and our online link (£267), we spent £684 on toys for Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital’s paediatric ward.
Fareham
Combining the collection from our Winter Showback on Thursday 9th December 2021 (£508.54) and our online link (£230), Fareham spent £738.54 on toys for Queen Alexandra Hospital’s paediatric ward.
Southampton
Lastly, adding together the donations from our John Lewis gig on Saturday 27th November 2021 (£352.76), our Winter Showback on Monday 6th December 2021 (£194.75) and our online link (£268.61), our biggest choir managed to raise £816.12 to spend on toys for University Hospital Southampton’s paediatric ward.
We had volunteers from Sing Now who looked after this project and we owe them a huge thank you! Shelley (Basingstoke member), Eileen & Rachel (Fareham members) and Anna (Southampton member), you rock 👏.
Play-therapy is often overlooked due to lack of funding and it really does make a big difference to the lives of children going through such an unimaginable time. We’re so pleased that we could help and we’d love to do it again in 2022.
