Hi Mum 👋🏻 …we were on the telly! 🤩
On Wednesday 9th January 2019, Sing Now Choir featured in a documentary on Channel 4; Shut Ins: Britain’s Fattest People.

Channel 4’s three-part series Shut-Ins: Britain’s Fattest People explores what life is like for the super-morbidly obese. The show follows the story of Claire, who has been trapped in her own bedroom for the past six years and relies on her daughters Tracey and Jasmine to do nearly everything for her. The burden of looking after Claire predominantly falls on 19-year-old Jasmine who has been restricted in enjoying a fulfilling social life.

The programme follows their journey as a family therapist recommends that the daughter, Jasmine, gets out and tries something new. Blink Films, the production company, approached us in October 2018 to see if we could help. Of course, we were happy to welcome Jasmine and a friend along to our Fareham choir for a free taster session. She really enjoyed herself and looked so relaxed.

Here’s a behind the scenes secret – We don’t usually sing that wonderful hymn, ‘Amazing Grace’. However, due to licensing and clearance, we were unable to use our usual Pop songs, so we busked it!

It was lovely to play a small part in Jasmine’s journey and if you wish to come along and try something new, you’d be very welcome too. Meet new friends, learn a set of new skills, improve your health and most importantly… have fun! Apply for a free taster session by clicking here.
